This low kickback, low vibration saw chain has been developed specially for light, compact chainsaws. It combines great cutting power with high cut quality and operator comfort. This is the result of its flat, narrow shape combined with the small chain pitch.

Electronically controlled STIHL electric motor (EC)
The STIHL electric motor (EC) has no carbon brushes, virtually no mechanical wear and efficiency that far surpasses conventional electric motors. Stored energy is thus converted into power as effectively as possible.
Quick Chain Tensioning (B)
Chain tensioning without any tools! Tensioning the saw chain is easy, convenient and safe with the STIHL Quick Chain Tensioning feature. Simply undo the chain sprocket cover screw by hand, adjust the saw chain quickly and easily by means of the thumb wheel, and tighten up the cover again. That also avoids contact with the sharp saw chain.
STIHL filler system
The oil tank has a large opening for easy filling with no spills. The patented STIHL special tank closure enables the tank to be opened and closed easily without requiring tools.
Functional design
The engine housing has smooth surfaces and rounded edges to prevent snagging on the machine or catching on branches. The chainsaw repels most dirt and is easy to clean.
Front hand guard
Like all STIHL chainsaws the MSA 160 C-BQ has a front hand guard mounted on dual ball bearings. Actively squeezing the front hand guard applies the chain brake manually, thus preventing unintentional chain movement.
QuickStop Super chain brake (Q)
STIHL exclusively offers this additional braking system for extra safety: The chain comes to a stop in seconds if a sufficiently strong kickback occurs or if the front hand guard is actively operated, and also when the operator lets go of the rear handle.
